Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in identifying professional learning needs.
The National Professional Standards allow teachers o effectivly teach within 21st century schools. There are three domains Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement, which are broken up into seven standards in total. Each of these standards focus on a individual areas of being an effective teacher. Teachers can use the Standards to recognise their current and developing capabilities, professional aspirations and achievements.
Teachers can use the Standards to inform the development of their professional learning goals, provide a framework by which they can judge the success of their learning and assist self-reflection and self-assessment.
