In this portfolio you will see how I have met and exceeded the NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS as outlined by the AITSL.

Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in identifying professional learning needs.

The National Professional Standards allow teachers o effectivly teach within 21st century schools. There are three domains Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement, which are broken up into seven standards in total. Each of these standards focus on a individual areas of being an effective teacher. Teachers can use the Standards to recognise their current and developing capabilities, professional aspirations and achievements.

Teachers can use the Standards to inform the development of their professional learning goals, provide a framework by which they can judge the success of their learning and assist self-reflection and self-assessment.

Seek and apply constructive feedback from supervisors and teachers to improve teaching practices.

Throughout my career I have had my colleagues visit my classes several time to give me an outsiders perspective of my teaching practice. This perspective has allowed me to identify areas for my own personal imporvement and put into place changes in my practive to help improve it.

The world of teaching is constantly changing, an so is the world of teaching. New educational technologies become avaliable, new pedological ideas become prevalent, curriculums get updated and changed. As teachers it is imperative that we strive to keep up to date on all educatinal going ons, this will allow us to be the most effective teachers for our students.
