Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of providing timely and appropriate feedback to students about their learning.

Timly feedback is vital for student improvement. Feedback can help students redirect themselves to be on target to achieve stated lesson / weekly goals. Likewise feedback allows a student to see that a teacher cares about their learning. Ongoing in class formative assessment allows a teacher to activly provide feedback to students in lesson so that a student can get active updates on their own learning and understanding and how close they are to achieveing thier current lesson / weekly goal

Demonstrate understanding of assessment moderation and its application to support consistent and comparable judgements of student learning.

Assessment moderation allows a teacher to be consistant in ther assessment between classes, schools, year levels and other teachers. By collaboratively moderating student work teachers can ascertain the accuracy of their assessments of students. Moderation is a quality assurance endeavor that holds teachers to currciculm standards.

Moderation allows students to be confident that no matter the teacher they are being assessed to the same standard. It allows teachers to refine their education practice, schools to have confidence in their standards and for partents to have confidence in the school.

Each year I moderate with other teachers in my current site.

Demonstrate the capacity to interpret student assessment data to evaluate student learning and modify teaching practice.

Assessment data allows teachers to assertain a students current knowledge and understanding against the standards. The assessment types mentioned previously are used to show a detailed picture of a students overall capability. Constructive use of assessment is crucial, if a teacher does not react to assessment data then there is no point in assessment.

If a student shows a deficency in an individual part of a subject the teacher can find that deficency through the use of assessment. Once an area for imporvement has been identified a teacher can take steps to improve that students capability through the use of different teaching stratergies.

Demonstrate understanding of a range of strategies for reporting to students and parents/carers and the purpose of keeping accurate and reliable records of student achievement.

Accurate and reliable records are a reflection of the organisational ability of a teacher. As a teacher I give accurate reports in regards to student progress four times a year, two of which are heavily detailed and contain final student results.

Written reports are not the only way to communicate with a student's parents. Parent teacher interviews allow for a one on one conversation that involves paretns in the assessment process, they allow teachers to indicate areas for remediation and suggestions for improvement as well as illistrating areas students are strong in.
