Understand and apply the key principles described in codes of ethics and conduct for the teaching profession.

As a teacher in South Australia it is imperative that I uphold the Code of Ethics outlined by the South Australian Teacher's Registration Board.

The three core values outlined in the code of ethics are Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity. As an educator I strive to act with courtesy and compassion and advocate for my learners, acknowledging and valuing learners’ diverse backgrounds, abilities and behaviours. I foster thinking and action, valuing the contributions of educational communities, to influence positive futures. It is my responsibility to provide high quality teaching and care through continuing my professional learning, working with my educational partners in the best interest of learners and upholding my professional standards. Finally, I strive to be honest and trustworthy in my relationships, upholding the dignity and honour of the profession.

TRB - Code of Ethics

Understand the relevant legislative, administrative and organisational policies and processes required for teachers according to school stage.

There are many legislative, administratice and organisational policies that as a teacher I must follow. For example, legistivly I must maintain my Responding to Abuse and Neglect training (RAN), administrativly I have to submit SACE results and send away moderation examples on time and, orgranisationaly I have to follow school procedures such as marking roles.

Understand strategies for working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers.

Relationships are vital within in education, especially so with parents. Throughout my career I have had positive and consistant experience with engaging with parents. I interact with parents at multiple occassions throughout the year in both professional and more casual settings. During these interactions I am able to diligently and conffidentially interact with these parents in the context of the setting. I communicate with parents via email and phone throughout the year when the situation requires. Additionally I have written articles for the school news letter.

Understand the role of external professionals and community representatives in broadening teachers’ professional knowledge and practice.

The wider educationl community is a valubale teaching recource that should be continually engaged throughout a teaching career. As an educator I strive to continually imporve myself, and one of the most effective ways to do this is via Professional Development conducted by external professionals. These porfessionals allow teachers such as myself to gain important knowledge in many differing areas realted to topics such as curriculum, administration, leadership, student learning and many others.

During 2017 I was instemental in getting Nathan Hulls, an motivational speaker to MBHS to speak infront of the 8-10 cohoert. Nathan specialises in getting students to activly believe in their own abilities.
