Student Wellbeing plays a major factor in how succesful a student is within the education system. A safe and healthy student is far more likely to succeed than one who is not. Overall student wellbeing can be helped via the following:
- Inlcusive and understanding Classrooms (Learning is second to wellbeing)
- Counciler Services
- Restorative Practices: The development and enhancement of relationships in schools and teaching conflict resolution
There are many different stratergies and frameworks that are designed to support student wellbeing and safety. Such stratergies / frameworks include :
National Safe Schools Framework
The NSSF identifies nine key elements to assist schools in planning, implementing and maintaining a safe, supportive and protective learning community that promotes student safety and wellbeing. These are:
- Leadership commitment to a safe school
- A supportive and connected school culture.
- Policies and procedures.
- Professional learning.
- Positive behaviour management.
- Engagement, skill development and safe school curriculum.
- A focus on student well being and student ownership.
- Early intervention and targeted support.
Partnerships with families and communities.
Likewise there are many National and state legislations that educators must be aware of such as; Education Act 1972(SA),Children's Protection Act 1993 (SA), Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Racial Discrimination Act 1975.etc
